Airport film mishap.

Any difference between exposed (not yet developed) and non-exposed film? 135 and 120?

Just guessing, from some experience with 8 x 10 Ektachrome.. exposed film will show greater damage than unexposed film.

Does anyone use the lead lined bags?

Sometimes. The bag shows up so dark on the scanner that you're almost certainly going to be asked to open it so they can inspect the contents. So it can be a sneaky way to get a hand inspection even when it's been refused!

I have traveled with Delta 3200 pushed to 6400. It was x-rayed but it didn't affect the film at all. You'll be fine
