I like the 2 lakes in Denali, the bear through the trees in Brooks Falls, and the collection of spinners. Also like the train platform and the tour buses.
Sorry, but for some reason none of the color shots work for me -- but that might just be the sour grapes of envy speaking.

IK13: Just how close did you get to this bear? 180mm is not a short lens, but it's not that long either...

The close bear shots are from a safe viewing platform at Brook's Falls. The B+W bear street shot was with a 35mm lens without obstacle between bear and photographer At Brook's, we had to go through a "Bear Training" first, and Rangers ecouraged us to keep at least 50 yards distance

No problem, Ari. I shot about twice the amount of B+W, for some reason. The shot I am particularly proud of is of the Aurora (#8 in first post). Here are a couple more:
The lodge we stayed at in full moon, @ around 1min exposure. It might be obvious through my pictures: I was very impressed by Denali (the mountain = Mt. McKinley).

I was hoping, Warren. But we were lucky, only one clear night out of four that we stayed in Denali Park. A sleep-less night, and I only carried and used a tripod for that night, but it feels like it was worth it.

Nice views and thanks for the memories. Uncle Sam's Flying Circus sent me to King Salmon AK for 18 months back during the Cold War. We had an intercept base there with F-15E Strike Eagles. King Salmon is just a boat ride away from Katmai National Park and Brooks Camp. Spent an awful lot of time there standing in the Brooks River with a fly rod in my hand and my salmon in a Brown Bears mouth. Been to the viewing platform many times. And pitched a tent on the camping platforms at Katmai NP. Did you get out to The Valley of 10,000 Smokes? Wild place - sorta like being on the surface of the moon.

Wonderful photos, Roland. You've done a marvelous job w/ the b&w in particular. I like too many in the first set to single them out, and all of them are really quite good. Looks like it was a great trip!!

Apropos the bear shots, when we finally meet over a beer, Roland, I'll have to tell you the story of the time I found myself out on the Alaska peninsula, sitting in a rebuilt army surplus truck full of freshly caught salmon in the back (and I mean full, like maybe a ton or so), facing a most curious group of Alaska brown bear about ten yards in front of me.... this was NOT a safe viewing platform... Unfortunately I didn't have my Nikon F w/ me on that occasion.

Now *that* one I like in color! I guess a good composition is a good composition.
Also good! Reminds me of Todd Hido's work in "House Hunting".
