Nice... and you got lucky too that Mt. McKinley wasn't behind cloud cover (which would have been typical).
BTW -- 6th image down on your original post - I have the same photo from what looks to be the exact vantage point, but in color (I shot with my DSLR).

Nice!
Just how close did you get to this bear? 180mm is not a short lens, but it's not that long either...
It's a grizzly. You don't have to get close to them, they'll get close to you.

Great stuff and a nice reminder that it's about the vision, not the amount of gear or the bells and whistles of your gear. I'd be the guy with 80 pounds of dslr gear and boring photos, lol.

Absolutely beautiful photos! If you don't mind me cluttering the thread with a technical question, did you use any filters for your black and white shots and if so, what kind?

The first several b+w landscape shots are the best I've seen in a long, long while. Super!

Thanks again, everybody.
Good question AAlfano: for most of the B+W shots I've used either yellow (K2) filter, or (the dramatic clouds) medium red (25) filters.
And a Pol filter of many of the 35mm color shots ....
Roland.

Great work, and I for one prefer the color shots. I know, I'm weird.
Now, please tell me that's a wolf statue, 3rd from the bottom in post #2.

It is.
My gallery shows some photos (including this one, and the one below) taken at the home of Jeff King, 4 times winner of the Iditarod Sled Dog Race. He breeds Alaskan Haski, mostly for himself.

Wonderful pictures, the black and white landscapes are exceptional and the colour equally intriguing, with Ektar looking wonderful.
Thank you for sharing, it looks like it was a great trip.

I have one awfully technical question - how did you find switching between SLR and RF? Or are you already used to it?

I was going to order some rolls of Ektar tonight and this seals it. 120 format for the Fuji, though. Fall color is coming in here, too.
