Alec Soth: Photographic Storytelling Course (Magnum)

I've taken it. It's quite good and I would highly recommend it. It's not a technical course in the sense that you won't learn about shooting a lf camera / making prints, etc. It's more about long-form project building, working with (or without) narrative and book making. He really does a good job of not being pretentious and provides invaluable insight into his projects and process.

There are photographic storytelling/narrative courses on Lynda.com, which you can probably get access to for free with your public library card.

Has anyone taken a course from Self Publish Be Happy? They had a photobook publishing workshop a while ago that I missed!

There is a very powerful youtube video posted by Leica Academie about curating your work and building photo stories and esays. I found it to be very informative https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYkJEhmuP-I

Not a big fan of Alec Soth's work so would not be taking his course. "The Art of Street Photography" on the other hand has been on my 'todo' list for a long time now.

Thanks Jay, that's pretty much what I'm after. Have been shooting a project in a local area for some time and it's gotten quite unfocused. Especially struggling with portraits.

Will be interesting to see what Alec says as he always comes across as quite thoughtful in interviews.

@arsenii That Leica academy video looks interesting, I'll check it out, thanks!
