Altering Photos in the Pre-digital age.

very interesting. ancillarily, i saw a documentary interviewing ansel adams son who gave access to his dad's 'darkroom', which was larger than my home! he also showed some 'original' prints of some of adams most famous photos that were materially different, some far less dramatic, than those we have come to know. it seems PP is most certainly not a product of the digital era, and was seemingly never viewed as 'dishonest' by photography's premier practitioners; just another tool to achieve an artistic vision, and that 'vision' is not necessarily to accurately depict the seen reality.

It's much older than that.
Try Googleing Oscar Rejlander, Hippolyte Bayard, or combination printing.
