Last year, when I first started actively scanning with a digital camera, one of the first purchase was an Alzo Copystand. It works well, wasn't outrageously expensive and was easy to move around. Earlier this year a Skier Copybox was added to improve both the light source and the negative carrier. Over the last few months, even with a shop level, centering the negatives has proved to be difficult. The Copybox wasn't quite in line with the lens and always seemed slightly askew when the negative was centered in the display. Earlier this week, I bought a pack of hot shoe levels and to my surprise:

It's off by this much because of how loose the quick release bracket is held by the base:

I had an extra Arca-Swiss bracket on hand and it was easy to change. The L bracket for the Sony will arrive next week:

Yes, I've seen this problem with the Manfrotto RC2 QR mounts before, many times. It's why I switched to Arca-Swiss QR mounts ages ago. :)
