am I missing something with the cv skopar 21/4?

Works well with colour. On R-D1:

I've got a minty black LTM one in the classifieds right now. If you don't want the finder and case, I'd probably go $350 for just the boxed lens. ad link

Unfortunately I don't have any examples on this computer to share, but I can tell you first-hand that this is an excellent lens. I bought it specifically to bring with me to Italy this summer, and although I'd also brought 4 other lenses with me, this one never left my camera, and the results were amazing, imo, especially its color rendering. You won't regret buying the 21/4. What I love most about it is that, despite being a wide-angle, it distorts so little that it can be used in so many "normal" circumstances too. Just be sure to keep your fingers out of the frame when composing your shots!!

Only piece of photographic equipment I regret selling. Compact, light, sharp enough and wonderful colour rendition. Maybe a bit more contrast than I normally prefer, but easily manageable.

Lovely pictures Maggie.

I got the Zeiss because I was a little disappointed with the distortion and flare of the 25/4 compared with the Zeiss 25. I also wanted it for an architectural project and the absolute straightness was worth it to me. Looking at this thread I reckon I would have been happy with the 21/4 too.
