As I am in the process of selling my Cron 90 [this is not an advertisement], I suddenly realise that it is (was) the only lens for which I have a frame in the M2 viewfinder.

I am left with
- CV Ultron 28
- Rokkor 40
- Lux 75
- Tele-Elmar 135
- a built-in viewfinder, however lovely, that has frames for 35, 50 and 90mm
- a turret finder (classic Soviet Contax clone) with provision for 28, 35, 50, 85 and 135mm, which is neither very well matched physically nor very convenient (rangefinder and viewfinder belong together, especially with the 135!)

So I sort of figure out the 40mm field outside the 50mm frame, and 'guess' whatever should be within the 28mm range... and most of the time it works (unless parallax takes its toll, which also happens with the built-in finder).

Am I the only fool out there with high-precision mechanics and optics, and not the slightest idea of what will be on the film ?

Please help me !

NO! YOU ARE SICK!

Take that Summicron off sale IMMEDIATELY!!!

The 35mm lines should provide 100% coverage for the 40mm. On the M3, I found the 90mm lines cover a Nikkor 105.

So just keep the 90mm Summi, and all will be right.

Too late Brian. I have to dump one of these :
- Cron 90
- Lux 75
- marriage

(And I am not sure the 35mm frame is not a tad on the optimistic side close up)

Frank - Technically my wife was born long after Daguerre, Nadar and Fox Talbot were done with their experiments. But my Minolta SRT predates our encounter.

Which is which, then ?

I would be inclined to say keep the lenses 😉 but if I had to choose between the lenses I would sell the 90mm Summicron and keep the Summilux.

I'm with you Peter. (With my wife, too, as a matter of fact.)
So the 90mm is up for sale. GAS, anyone?

GAS, yes, but only from last night's food (which I prepared BTW).

And because I love my wife and will be moving house at the end of the week, I just cannot give into any photography induced GAS. 😛
