Well, that's the setup I remember when cleaning my Kodak Carousel projector.
Do you have the condensor and lens already? Can you hack an enlarger into your projector?
I suspect you need a bright bulb. Better doodle in a fan over the bulb.

Hey Brian,
The lens and the condensor is on its way from the main cheap gear source everyone uses here.
Yes, there will be a couple of vents in there and I think I will put a 24v 300watt halogen light there as soon as i manage to get or build a powersupply for it.
At first I will put the whole thing together on a piece of wood to test and find the best distances of the elements from each other.
Ah and I will have to get the spherical mirror/reflector too.
It's just the beginning.

In a "normal" projector there is somwhere in the light beam a heat absorving filter

Yes, I also remember the same thing in my enlarger. It is after the condensor and before the negative carrier in the enlarger. I've got an optics book covering projection systems at home. Will check it for that glass. I suspect the heat absorbing glass for the Bogen enlarger that drops into the 3" by 3" filter tray would work.

At first I did a drawing in Visio and then that was awful so I got a pen and paper and did the scientific one. #:-]
DIYing is great, although, this is my first project ever. I hope I will be able to finish it.

I'll put a sheet of glass before the slide and a ventilator under it to keep the air flowing. That should keep the slide cool.

I'm home, got the optics book.
Whole chapter on "Optical Projection Systems".
They put the heat resisting glass between the lamp and the condensor.
"Optics and Optical Instruments", by B.K Johnson. 1960.
I picked up my copy during the last big office move out of someones "recyclables".
Neat book!
