TG I'm through that. My two both went to v. expensive private schools and we got no breaks. With the prices of college for kids, weddings seem like chump change.

Ted, I think I came to the same crossroad some time ago.
Back then I must ask my self honestly, do I love taking picture, or do I love having gears. Because for me, having a lot of gears (in redundancy, especially) is detrimental to my focusing on my pictures. So I have to let go.
Now the only gear that has Leica on it is my M4-P, an Ultron is attached permanently to it (until I can get my hands on a Nokton, if I like it better than the Ultron, then the Ultron will go
).

Ted, I personally would never let go of the 28Hex.
And never sell the 90 hex...unless it was to ME!!

I guess I take a slightly different view of this. Of course cameras and lenses are made to be used, as are lawnmowers. But you don't sell your lawnmower every winter just because it's not being used.
If you feel that the money that you have wrapped up in gear would be better spent on other things or if you have so much money wrapped up in gear that it is affecting your financial situation, then by all means sell some or all of the gear. Likewise, if there are particular gear purchases that you wish to make but cannot afford or justify without selling some of your current gear, then go ahead and sell. But, in my view, if there is no pressing need to sell, then it makes little sense to do so, especially if you worry that you might regret some of the sales. If you have a clear reason for selling - for example, you wish to buy something else - then the choices as to what you should sell will likely become quite clear.
Of course, this is just my view. If you decide to sell that bp 50/1.4 and change your mind about selling to Canadians, let me know.

Man, I'd be interested in the Canon 28/2.8 or the M-Hex 28/2.8 and the 35mm 'cron v3 (then I could bring myself to sell my UC-Hex, maybe). I'd love to have a 35 'lux pre-ASPH though... Enviable choices!

Hi Chris
Hi Chris
I have the 90 Hex on my M8, and snapped a dozen photos of the cats wide open. It's amazingly sharp and focuses perfect from viewing the LCD. I almost wonder if I could use this instead of the 75/1.4 lux?!!
I'll see if I can find any willing humans that I can take photos of with this lens over the weekend.

I missed a 90 Hex earlier and have been looking for another. Can't decide if I want to go that way or pre-war uncoated 90 Elmar. I like the romantic/dreamy look of the earlier lenses but the 90 Hex seems like a pretty special lens. Can you post anything wide open with the Hex? (preferably people shots)
Thanks,
Chris

Thanks Roland
I am likely going to keep all that you mentioned below, plus the 35/1.4 lux. The 28 Hex is better than the Canon, but the small size of the Canon will always have me reaching for it, rather than the technically better Hex 28.
Thanks Roland

Hi Ted,
I were you I would at least keep the M6 with MP finder, the v3 Summicron, the 50/1.4 pre-asph and the 75/1.4. A nice matching Mandler set, perfectly matching in bokeh, rendering, contrast, etc, IMO. Some of the best glass Leica has ever built .... And maybe one of the 28s (I myself would pick the Hex over the Canon).
If you ever want to sell the v3 35/2 I expect first dibbs
Cheers,
Roland.

I understand what you're saying, but imagine a smaller 28/2.8, about 1/2 the size of the hex with hood, maybe 1/3rd the size, that produced 90%+ the quality of the M-Hex. That's how I feel the Canon 28 is. Maybe 95%.

I could not resist but keep a 35, 50, 75 pre asph summilux set.
Sell the hex 90, the extra 28mm, the 35 cron v3, the pentax 43 and the nokton 40mm. I like to keep it simple, a beautiful leica summilux spherical trio, perfect!

I think the ad expires today. Lowered prices on everything. Will likely keep everything and see if there is interest in some stuff next spring. Definitely want to keep the v3 35/2 cron, that's why it's not in the ad.
I'm not really into the "kit" thing, one could also make an argument that a 28/35/50/90 Hexanon lens kit is comparable.
I like each lens for what it is, and as with most folks, these "likes" change. My favorite 28 is currently the old Canon 28, not because of its sharpness, but the size, image quality, and handling suit me very well.

slowly starting to thin out some gear, am enjoying small lenses, 28 on M8 or 40 or 50 coll. on the RD1.
