Correct me if I am wrong, please. If a package is opened and returned, Amazon can't sell it as a new item any longer. The item should be re-sold as used or demo one. Right?

Then they would have lost money on the sale. Unless they overcharge for shipping to make a profit, like many ebay sellers.
Also, how is the next buyer to know whether the item is brand new or returned and resealed in the package?
I honestly don't know if Amazon does this or not, so I'm not assusing them, but I do know for a fact some big box stores like Future Shop do this.
