Amsterdam mid november

I'm in Amsterdam in mid november.
Does anyone know
1. exhibitions etc, photographie related or not, worth to be seen,
2. special places, that are interesting to take pictures from,
3. photoshops for used gear, especially Fuji X and Leica M.

And any recomandations, which lenses (Fuji X) to take with me.

For street work, it's beautiful everywhere with opportunities for great shots abound every time you turn a corner. In addition to the obvious Van Gogh museum, I really found Rembrandt's museum (in his old house right in the city) to be extremely worthwhile. Can't help with much else unfortunately.

For photo exibitions, check out Foam and Huis Marseille in Amsterdam, Fotomuseum in Rotterdam and GEM (next to Gemeentemuseum) in The Hague.
It's a small country, so distances to the other cities are short and public transport is generally good.
Amsterdam is very, very, very crowded, with tourists, but there are a lot of smaller old cities, which are great for photography, like Delft, Leiden, Dordrecht to name a few within an hour of travel. Sometimes with very nice museums. Of course you can go to the Rijksmuseum and spend a lot of time waiting, before trying to get a glimpse of De Nachtwacht.
There are not many brick and mortar photoshops left in this country.

Want to get away from the crowds, take an (open) boat tour! It's a lovely city from the water, less so from crowded canal sidewalks.

Have dinner here if you like unusual settings with an urban edge: http://www.pont13.nl and take a cab to get there, it's in the docks and you'll get lost getting there by public transport. When suffering from GAS, stay away from Foto Professional, they overcharge 😉

Foto Fransen is a good shop, Beukenplein.

Foto Professional (Nieuwendijk) is to be avoided.

Foto Den Boer (Tweede Hugo de Grootstraat) is excellent.

Het Nederlands Fotomuseum is in Rotterdam, not in Amsterdam.

Its a superb city, very colourful, always something to shoot street wise. A canal boat trip/taxi is always a great way to travel around the city and the Heineken brewery tour is well worth a visit if you just want to chill

I love the Huis Marseille photography museum! The ticket will give you access to their amazing little library with hundreds of old and new photobooks. I could spend hours in there, alone at the big table, facing the delightful garden, browsing photo book after photo book.

The Eye film museum is also quite interesting, depending on the temporary exhibition

As for your shop related question: Foto Nivo Schweitzer has a lot of Leica related gear, both new and used.

If you have time, do plan daily trips to cities nearby (Utrecht, Leiden, Den Haag, Rotterdam, etc.), less tourists, less noise, same or even more charm.

No, not much.

few fun things off the beaten path I would recommend that offer different photo opportunities than the typical amsterdam picture.

Nighttime canal boat tour. The one we did advertised cheese and wine, which we thought it would just be one glass of wine and a small plate of cheese, but it was really as much wine or cheese as you care to have. We booked online through Rederij Kooij. The benefit to a night tour is the bridges are all lit and you get to go through more of the canals than normal during the day.

Waterland day busticket. Get out of the city and enjoy the country just ~20min north.
Definitely get a panekoeken in Broek in Waterland at the one restaurant there. Edam is a nice town, as is Marken. Would spend as little time as able in Volendam. A little too touristy for my taste.

Take the 7 or 14 tram to Flevopark. Of course the park itself if beautiful, but there's also a distillery there that makes their own Geneever and Eau's. Highly recommend this place. Has a beautiful terrace to sit out on if it's nice weather.

and certainly dont miss the anne frank house. But if you dont have reservations now, you might be out of luck. The line can be BRUTAL.

as for gear to bring
I did it with fuji equipment as well; x100, xf14, xf35, xt1.
If I could do it over, I'd just bring a 28/50mm equiv as those focal lengths would be perfect 95% of the time for me.
The xf14 I felt was too wide most of the time, though I do have a couple of fun shots from the city with it....though if i remember correctly, most were cropped fairly significantly. Down to a ~28mm probably. The x100s I also felt just an oddball FOV for me in that city and surrounding area. Hardly used it.
