An Article About The X-T1's Design

I don't think the baby SLR is primarily a retro design decision, it is more like design-follows-function - folding the finder path is a high priority on current high resolution EVF, as it allows for a body as narrow as the lens register permits without prohibitively expensive finder optics or display cost. A SLR like shape is the only conservative design with a folded finder path which everybody knows and accepts. True, on a EVIL camera, the finder could be placed anywhere - but placing things anywhere modern engineering permits them has a high risk of creating a Fiat Multipla like monstrosity...

"Fuji’s marketing strategy for the XF has been simple: use shills to build up excitement, release products at high prices, slash prices when sales start to flag a couple months in, and then build excitement for the next big thing."

Wow. How cynical can Fujifilm be?

Say what you will about the X-T1, but it's a wonderful camera IMO. It's functional, intuitive and looks pretty good all things considered. Sure, it's a departure from rangefinders, the X-Pro1, X-E2, etc. But choice is good; as are the multiple models. There's no denying the popularity of the X system, certainly.
