I love this little thing, Ive been using it for a while now, well at least keepin it in my pocket, I started using it with my M3 when I bought it, since I had no meter, and no desire for one, I had got the M3 to almost force myself to enter into "non mentered" shooting...and this has worked very well for me. Even a shot in my gallery on here that I used it for, inside low lit airport haha.
Cant hurt anyone to just print a few out, throw in your bag or pocket, I keep one in my car too.

Very nice chart but most Sunny 16 philosophers peg open shade at EV 12 (+3.0) not EV 11 (+4.0). How do you judge open shade?

I also came across Fred Parker's site around 2003. Since then, I generally don't use a light meter. My photos come out at least as well exposed, if not better, than when I used to use one.
Recently I haves started using the black cat chart:

Which I tend to prefer, because it it is more durable and easier to use. However, I usually write out a note card for typical situations before I go out for a shoot. For example, if I am going into the city to take pictures of my girlfriend there, I will write down around 8 settings for my point and shoot camera, knowing this this camera only closes down to f8. If it is sunny, I know I will want to set my camera at iso 100 and shoot at f8 at 1/500 or so; for a weak sun, I will write down f8 at 1/250, and so fourth.

Has anyone considered doing an ipod application based on these charts? Currently there are DoF caluculators availabe, but an exposure chart would be fantastic. I think it would be very handy. Of course, I'm speaking for those of us that own ipods and use the applications feature.

I have not loaded the iTouch emulator on my Mini yet so I have not had a chance to test it yet, but it looked interesting. I purchased a copy just for 5hits and Giggles.

The application is called iKspozher. It's written by Venkatramanan Krishnamani. After I load the software I might write Fred about doing a better app based upon his info for him.
This works on both iTouch (iPod) as well as iPhones (both versions with an upgrade to version 2.X).

Here is another option, also based on Fred Parker's charts. It is an Excel spreadsheet that I put together to use on my Blackberry, I'm sure it's also usable on Windows Mobile devices with Excel. It can be used in one of two ways.
1: (P mode) On the first sheet (P), enter your ISO and EV, all possible aperture and shutter values will be shown below.
2: (A mode) On the second sheet (A), enter ISO, Aperture, and EV, and correct shutter speed will be displayed.
Admittedly much more awkward to use than the the sliderules, but I never knew those existed until reading this thread. On the other hand, your Blackberry will ALWAYS be with you.

Amazing. A few weeks ago I created the exact same thing for carrying in pocket from Fred's site. I even laminated my card.
