Just goes to show the R-D1 was ahead of its time. (Image from gizmodo)

...incorporates a unique design element which graces the top of the camera's body - dual analog gauges. The small gauges, located next to the power button, display remaining battery life and memory capacity in a way that's easy for the shooter to access while on the go.

Nikon? I thought it was the R-d1 they were stealing from.Great. Now pixels will cost $4 a gallon and you'll have to take out a loan to top out that gas gauge.
Looks like they are stealing Nikon's P&S idea with the funky gauges.

The best camera is one that still works!
I've heard that Leica are going to take retro one step further with the M9. There will be a series of small holes along the top of the camera and each time you take a pic you move a small peg (supplied) along one position. When you get to the end of the row of holes you know it's time to change the memory card!

Steampunk = Cool.

LOL. Replacement Peg Set: $85.
Seriously, steampunkish analog dials not only look cool but are functional, to boot. I like the Full/Empty dial as it clearly tells you how many shots are left (overall) visually without forcing you to think about what a displayed number "means." Thanks for sharing.

I love analogue dials, too, and especially love them on my R-D1. But honestly, I've never had to think much about the number of shots shown in a digital display.
