That's interesting ... the pie chart indicates that the D700 and 5DII are very close, which globally you would expect.

Not so close around here though ... and I can't help but wonder why?

I would say majority here are RF shooters which would really change the results.

To see what RF users are shooting with on another site, look at this chart. Keep in mind the sampling data is much less than what I provided fro DSLr's.

I was reading a test on the Sony A900 which was rated very highly aside from it's high ISO performance wich is poor apparently ... that seems to have become a bit of a deal breaker these days.

The Pentax K-5 gets very good reviews, particularly it's high ISO performance but lens selection becomes tricky for very low light situations with a crop camera IMO. There are choices but they are a bit limited.

If Olympus and Pentax were not so set in their ways, we may actually have a better selections.

I am pining for a D700. But that's only because Olympus E-5 is *not* an FF (a fact that frustrates and irked me to no end), otherwise Nikon will be a distant second choice.

There is no data missing on any of these charts. They are generated based on the images in the gallery. I could include all cameras but that would be a large chart. The "Top 10" is based on the top 10 cameras or lenses used with the photos in the gallery on the sites this was taken from.

I do sometimes think about an 'old' 5D occasionally when I look at my 50mm f1.2 Zuiko ... what a killer combination that would be.

Apparently there is an adapter from Leitax to put it on the D700 though ... I just can't afford one at the moment.

I'd love for olympus to make an FF dslr. What I can't help thinking though, is that they'd make 15 superzoom type plastic lenses - 24-300mm f6.3-9.7, 18-90mm f5.6-8.3, 80-600mm f12.8-14.2, 50-300mm f4.5-7 etc etc, and then they'd make one 50mm f2 macro prime with terrible AF speed to satisfy the prime guys, and maybe a 35mm f4 pancake with poor optical performance for $90.

They can't be trusted to make a good platform for serious photographers at the moment, and there's no way they'll ever go back on their 4/3 sensor development and make a 35mm full frame digital - it would be like admitting they were wrong in the first place.

Haha... Nikon Australia was clearing out d700 last time I checked (few weeks ago) for $2000 for the body... Doesn't make a difference in reality - it's still better than 35mm film in quality and all, but you can bet that they'll be $1000 on ebay pretty soon.

It means it produces images almost or equal to the top of the line pro cameras but is priced so that keen amateurs or hobbyists can afford it. i.e. its good enough for both pros and consumers hence prosumer.

It won't happen suddenly I agree ... the camera is far too good. The D70 held it's value for an amazing amount of time IMO ... after four years I sold mine on eBay for a lot more than I expected to get for it. Probably one of the best 6 megapixel DSLRs ever made!
