The bar is quite high! :D

This little Epson will also stop me from immediately blowing the budget on an M9 which I was in severe danger of doing! I had actually arranged to go and have a look at a used M9 on the other side of Brisbane today ... and while the RD-1 is obviously no full frame Leica it will get me out shooting while film is just too difficult due to lack of time and other committments.

I'm also very lucky that I have a set of lenses that are idealy suited to the Epson's 1.5 crop. More so than the M8's 1.33 IMO where that camera's crop factor took them away from my favourite focal lengths.

It's a great camera, Keith. I miss mine, but I like the Rollei I bought with the funds more.

Don't be afraid to push the ISO! It will surprise you. I remember there was a shot I wanted in Greece but with the ISO maxed, hand holding at 1/4 second and the lens wide open, I still couldn't get it. I underexposed the shot by two stops and pushed the exposure back in Lightroom. I ended up with a few hot pixels but overall I was very impressed!

keith, you are a trip ...

Paul ... I'm using the excuse that women 'reputedly' use when they buy the $200 dress instead of the $1000 one that was hanging along side it!

"But darling .... look at the money I saved!"

:D

So why do you want the Xpro Joe? :p

And those black and whites are right where I like to see them ... what was the process?

the rd1 satisfies my most basic photographic need...it helps me create images that look good to me.
the newer machines are attractive because of failing eyesight (due to age and diabetes).

my processing is super simple keith.

i open the files in pse8, usually cropped the edges a bit, decide on colour or b&w, and then play with levels until i like what i see, use a very mild unsharp mask and that is it. average total post processing time about 3 minutes per image.

Ah, another congrats on getting the coolest digital camera ever made and here are some pictures thread.

Congrats Keith, a wise choice. One of my fave lenses is the 15mm Heliar, especially useful when shooting in a crowd. Here's a few Heliar shots.

hope you enjoy your camera as much as I enjoy mine

Nice, if I was going to buy a DRF, it would be the RD1. They are real bargains now, and think 6MP is plenty really, it was fine a few years ago, it's fine now.
