And then I bought an RD-1s ???

what a lovefest!!

i was toying with the idea of selling one of mine but after all this...nfw!!!

Isn't it just! LOL

I can see why though and I don't have mine yet! The RD-1 was the first digital rangefinder after all and it deserved a better reception and longer life than it subsequently received.

This camera with a current CMOS sensor (still 1.5 crop) in it with a few updates would be a threat to the current toys ... OMD and Xpro IMO.

I'm amazed it isn't being considered by Cosina!

R-D1 is among the very few real digital rangefinder cameras. The other two are M8 and M9.

For me, Micro 4/3 , NEX, GXR or Xpro are definitely not in this category.

I am still hoping for Cosina to come out the RD-2

That can't be discounted IMO in spite of the company's founder stating that he'll never go digital. I always though that was grandstanding personally and faced with declining film camara sales I'm sure he'd reconsider if the company's future depended on it.

They have the tooling ... lets face it!

I don't think it would need to be full frame either because a decent twelve megapixel CMOS sensor would markedly improve the high ISO performance of the camera and the generally slower wides that are available out there at a reasonable price in M mount would come into their own.

I think potential buyers of such an offering would happily pay $2500.00 for a genuine digital rangefinder experience in preference to being fleeced by Leica for the privilege! 😀

but his company doesn't depend on it. he could get by with just making cv and zeiss lenses.
plus his main business is not attached to voightlander.

as much as i would love a new rd2...i don't see it happening.

But he also has a lot of pride as a camara manufacturer and it shows! The R4* was a ground breaking design IMO and Cosina were very proud of it when they released it!

Bessa sales must be declining surely and I bet new Ikons don't exactly fly out the door.

Meanwhile us RD-1 users (LOL) have to stick together right?

Glad to hear you're hanging onto yours Joe. 🙂
