The person behind this is very committed to photography and writes occasionally for the NYTimes Lens blog. Also makes documentaries and organizes photo festivals. A good venture with a good person behind it.
I'll let you know how the review is. I'm a little disappointed with the level of work on the site, at first glance it looked pretty high but now that I am involved it seems like a bunch of predictable concerned-grad-student-documentary, polluted environment, third-world neglect, feminist rants, and French philosophy portfolios. Nobody stands out very strongly, it seems to be full of group-think.
I just gave a quick look, not (yet) sure how to think about. I'll give a deaper look in the next days. Thanks for the links, it is always usefull to check new visual material.
