Andre Kertesz

I read somewhere that Kertesz actuallly taught HCB how to use a Leica.
AK had a wonderful whimsical touch that is delightful. There's a little book of late-in-life Polaroids, all taken in his apartment that is truly wonderful. I have many AK books and three AK prints. I enjoy them all.

Ruben, when my interest moved from landscape to street years ago, Kertesz (not HCB) was the photog that pushed me over the edge... thanks for the link.

The 'studio' images of Kertesz dragg me into a kind of vertigo, as if I were drunk - like no other photographer does it to me. Not that I doesn't enjoy other photogs and master photogs - but Kertesz indeed has a magical power over me, eliminating the laws of physics and drawing a world of himself.

Cheers,
Ruben

I have only recently discovered Kertesz (that's crazy I know but I am relatively new to photography). I had an assignment to go to the library and pick up a photo book. One about his life was the first one I picked up. I could not find any other book that moved me more. He has inspired me more than anything else, and it has been a very short time since I have happened upon that book. His composition is truly amazing.
