Looks pretty good--I like those organizer pockets for small items.

Some bag manufacturer really ought to pay Joe as a consultant on their designs. (And give him free bags to test as a perk.) Any manufacturers lurking on RFF?

We all would benefit of your idea. Because, you know, as no manufacturer will be up to par with Joe's bag vision, the rejects will be above and beyond the keepers...

I prefer to use satchels that don't look like camera bags. Helps to keep the wrong sort away.
I'm normally ever only carrying around a dSLR with 2x lens, an RF and a compact (which sits in my jacket/trouser pocket). Sometimes I travel lighter still.

I've got two Tenba 995 bags, which I don't believe are still being made. One, bought new about twenty years ago and repaired by me a zillion times holds some SLR gear, and the other, which I got used a couple of years ago and refurbished myself, is for the Rangefinder stuff. However, I don't schlepp them any longer as I prefer to keep weight to a minimum by carrying only what I need as I walk around. On those really rare one body one lens days, I have an old canvas army Gasmask bag.
I've also got a Lowepro Trekker backpack that I only use on photo trips.

My current bag. Domke F8 ruggedwear. Inside, M7 with BP 35 cron attached, 28 elmarit asph, BP 50 cron, Fujifilm case, GRD IV, batteries and E39 ND filter. I had this setup this past spring break and it was perfect.

I gotta try the A&A 7100, just ordered one. Looks like the OMD and an RD1 will fit just fine in it.

This is my shortlist after whey to much time researching for a good camera bag. Its still too long for a shortlist as you can see. Any input would be higly appreciated. I want a bag thats slim, easy to access gear and with good protection.

I own the Tenba Messenger Large (incl. lens insert pouch), bought one hour ago the Messenger Mini (the insert of the Large+Small bag fits tight in the Mini too, if not filled with equipement) and ordered an additional lens insert.
Why I started with Tenba Messenger line this winter? My requirements were:
- laptop compartment (for the daily Large one)
- exchangable lens insert (in seconds I can swith the content from RF gear to SLR equipment)
- silent top access without flap movements
- similar messenger style bags in different sizes
- reasonable price tag (I like but don't need nice leather applications)
At the end the shortlist consisted only of the Tenba Messenger line.

Doesn't the mini come with an insert? Or is it bad?

Doesn't the mini come with an insert? Or is it bad?
It doesn't come with the exchangeable insert pouch of the large and small. Of course, the mini has the tipical padded separators which can be positioned to your like. But I find the insert pouch better, because I can just exchange this from bag to bag without fiddling around with bodies and lenses, accessories, films etc. That's why I will not use the standard separator pads of the mini.
If you own only the mini and don't need to exchange gear, then the standard insert pads are perfectly usable like in other bags.
In a few hours I can post images of my two tenba bags: It might be better than any extensive explanation
