First time poster. Newbie fixer. I got a QL17 Giii and was firing fine with the correct shutter and aperture. I guess I was playing and exercising with it too much and moved the selftimer which was a wrong move but got back to the start position.
Anyway it still worked a bit but then later on I would wind the lever and it would "catch" something making the insides move including the lens. After a couple more wind and shoots, the lever gets stuck and couldn't fire anymore. Opened it up and tried to see if anything was bent but see everything good. I tried moving the aperture ring and accidentally moved the selftimer again. Now it's really stuck. Looks like I'm gonna have to take off the lens assembly and fix the selftimer?
Also, seems like the electricals are shot because the battery doesn't do anything to the meter or battery check.

How did you get the self timer back to its starting position? Did it run its course or was it forced back?
It might still be waiting to be triggered. Try carefully fiddling with the (stuck) lever and see if anything is moving in the body. This could lead you to the area where something might be stuck. Before you go ahead and disassemble the lens too.

I wonder if a few small drops of lighter fluid where the timer switch is would loosen it up,
or maybe heating with a hair dryer?

might sound silly, but check the battery is in the right way round. It's been done!
Good luck.

I don't remember but I think it may have been forced back. It still wound and fired when I kept exercising it. I've fiddled with the lever and there's definitely no give and feel it is somewhere internal.

I haven't gotten a hold of lighter fluid. Are there any suggested brands or what kind of lighter fluid to get?

I've tried both sides. Battery contact had some corrosion but cleaned it with vinegar then alcohol.
