In a 35mm classified thread posted by kvanderlaag there's a photo of his Fed2 showing the camera back off. I thought I'd read that early FSU cameras were strictly bottom loading (or at least the early Feds). So are some, or all Feds back loading?

Hi Jim,
The early feds were bottom loaders. It was the Fed 2 which introduced the removable back. Good history of the different types here http://www.commiecameras.com/sov/35mmrangefindercameras/cameras/fed/index.htm

The FED 2 and later all have removable backs. Only the FED 1 was a bottom loader.
In the Zorkis the Z1, ZC, Z2C and Z5 are bottom loaders. The Z3s and Z4s have removable backs and the Z6 has a hinged back.
