I'm interested in getting either a G1 or G2 with the 45. The G1 is significantly cheaper, but I don't want to buy cheap and regret my decision.

I've done this in the past (bought the older/cheaper version) and in some cases it worked out, in others I was disappointed.

I've read about the improvements of the G2, but what I want to know is if they make a practical difference in use. For example, I know I won't take advantage of the 4 FPS over the 2 FPS - so that is no longer really an advantage of the G2 to me.

I do think the higher shutter speeds of the G2 will be useful to me. Faster focusing isn't critical, but it would be nice.

I have a G1
i like smaller size compared to the G2
the 28 and 90 are also superb
never had any focusing problems at all with the G1

I owned both a G1 and a G2 which were my primary cameras for about 7-8 years. I used the G1 much more than the G2 as it did everything I needed but was just a bit lighter. I never had any problems with the G1 focusing. The times I chose the G2 were when I needed the 1/4000th shutter which was very seldom.

Get yourself a g1, the same in a smaller, inexpensive package.

Be sure the AF is well aligned with the focus patch inside the VF.

The G1 is a great camera and lenses are just awesome!

Got my G1 last Thursday and I am very happy with it. Based on my weekend shooting experience, I don't think there's much in the G2 that would benefit me or warranted a $300 price difference.

Thanks, all!
