(Another) IIIf

Nice camera, and I enjoyed reading your blog entry about it.

The VALAU lens hood looks great on it too.

How do you find the viewfinder though? I always found it to be a bit 'squinty' and therefore either scale-focused, or (mainly) used the SBOOI finder.

Thanks John
Yes it is a bit 'squinty' but I have been using the camera finder most of the time with no problem.I intend to do more zone focussing in Singapore with the 35mm and 21mm lenses, and external finders, though.
I expect I shall buy a nice 50mm finder at some point, if only because I love all those things

Wonderful combination Nick. The camera looks brand new!

If you really don't like the squinty VF, you could always get a bright line finder, like the SBOOI, to go with it.

I've used the CV finder-looks very nice, and makes framing a joy.

I have actually considered selling mine, but you have reminded me how much I enjoy using my IIIf.

Nick, I have two IIIf''s and for silent photos, they are great. I purchased them on Ebay and they both came in like someone had them cleaned as the viewfinders are clear as day.

I remember seeing one in a pawnshop a few years back but it was for display and not for sale so when purchased them I was very pleased.

Curious about why one should buy two or more. I have IIIf. Is there a justification or is it just raw gear lust???

BTW, Nick - real nice camera, congrats.

Two reasons to have more than one IIIf:
- One for slow film and one for fast film.
- So that you don't have to stop and reload when you get the end of a roll.

When I saw the second Leica IIIf with an Elmar 50f2.8 at a great price, I bid on it and got it. I have taken it with me on vacations out of the country and they are great to carry since they are light. People stop and look at it while it is on my neck, on a strap and probably remember they wanted one.
