Another M8 for $2500?

Here's the fine print from the auction:
"A premium of 22.5% has to be paid on the knocking down price. The tax (19%) has to be paid on the surcharge, i.e. the total surcharge amounts to 26.78%.
The entire amount, which has to be paid by the purchaser, is immediately due and has either to be settled in cash, wire transfer or by guaranteed bank draft. "

So the actual purchase price will be almost 27% higher than the final auction bid!

oooh, there's always something in the fine print. $2220 for a mint- black paint mp is still pretty good, though.

Maybe the $2500 is a downpayment .... ?
Maybe the cheap Jaguar is a limping Jaguar?
Maybe the ....

This is getting ridiculous. Scam after scam and in many shapes and colors. Take your pick.

what makes this a scam? nothing says "wannabe" quite like an M8 with a summarit. so its definitely real. thumb rule with any craigslist sale is to inspect it locally and then buy it.

what kind of stupid thing is that to say? what's wrong with an M8 with a summarit?

If they are selling an M8 with a lens, filters, as new in box for $2200.00 then I agree, they have to get their "finances under control", because they don't know the value of anything.

nothing wrong with it...except in this case he was clearly not doing it for any other reason apart from using it for the name. surely an amateur / pro would not have a 50 summarit as his only lens when better / faster / cheaper options are available. this is a classic case of someone buying into a leica system for the status. also i love the throwaway line about the D2x.

so to reiterate...nothing against the summarits or folks who use it. just that this guy doesn't have his priorities right.

@nanthor - i guess you have never had a pressing need for quick cash or ever made a dumb monetary decision. you ought to be congratulated.

seriously, what makes this a wannabe? i think the ad is probably a scam, but what is it about putting a summarit on an m8 that makes you a wannabe? the same case could be made for someone using konica lenses on an m6...

Sure, ask him for the rest of the details to complete the sale! After that confusing paragraph response, I'm curious.
