Another OM question... Zuiko 24/2.8

Ok, as mentioned in my other recent thread, I was looking at a 24/2.8 to pair with a 35/2 and 85/2. I bit the bullet on a H. Zuiko SC version.. My question would be is the later MC version better in actual use? I do like backlighting, and including the sun in wide angle shots, and does the SC version handle this well? I perused pbase for some examples, and the ones by Robert Tallent under the H. Zuiko Auto-w examples look fantastic, and are backlit. I do not see the flare or veiling that is said to be a problem with the earlier lenses. I do wonder if his photos are from a later MC example, and just tagged as the earlier lens... I did find an MC version for only $50 more than what I paid for the SC.. Would I be happier with the later, or is this just blown out of proportion? Does anyone have some examples they could share?

I have used my SC 2.8/24mm Zuiko lens since 1976 and never had a flare problem with it.
It is a great lens BTW.

with old OM lenses I have found it can depend a lot on the particular lens you are looking at.

why not buy both and sell the worse of the two? that's how I decided on which 50 I kept.

I would get the MC version. I had an H. Zuiko years ago, that was unfortunately stolen from me. Very nice lens, with good flare control. However, the MC version seems a bit better in that regard. Since the MC versions are much harder to find for sale these days, I would get it and try it out. Worst case, you should have no problem selling it.
