I just came back from visiting a branch of Ritz Camera, which is a large US photography chain, intending to buy some film. They didn't have any. Of any kind. At all.

Their reasoning was that there wasn't much call for it any more, but if I really wanted some, they suggested I buy a disposable camera, and salvage the film out of it. So sad.

This is a large chain, but I don't know if all Ritz stores have discontinued film, or if this is just an individual store's decision.

I suspect I should have kept my expectations low, as a couple months ago I went into the same store asking for roll film. Nobody in the store knew what that was.

Cheers,
Dez

don't you know that Ritz filed bankruptcy again? twice in 3 years!! stocking film is the last thing on their mind. I was never clear why that store existed with sky-high prices on all items you can purchase these days online.

I'm surprised that they are still around -- they closed all their stores here in Arizona many years ago...

I bought something for around $200 from Ritz/Wolf/Camera West years ago when I stopped by after work one evening. I realized it wasn't what I needed when I got home. I tried to return it the next morning. They refused to accept the item, whether for a refund, store credit, etc. It was unused, still wrapped in plastic, had all papers, etc. yet he said the box was missing some green piece of paper which was never there. I asked for the manager and was informed I was speaking with the manager. I unfortunately paid with actual money so I couldn't involve a credit card company. I took all my photography business elsewhere and still advise others to do the same. That was fifteen years ago.
