My wife works at a large accounting firm here in Minneapolis. She now is working only three days a week. Full time she worked 3000 plus hours each year. Many work even more. The folks who are equity partners have to retire at 62. The reason for that is many people of that group would never retire. Then, if that happened, the younger people wouldn’t stick around.
For some, their entire life is work. Well, I’ll be generous and say maybe 99% work the other 1% is with their significsnt other.
This gent who took his own life, I read he traveled 250 plus days each year. Now, the world will still spin on its axis just as it did while he was still living.
It’s too bad. Now life is over for him. Finality of the act. Can’t take it back. No rewind button.
Here is what I wrote on Facebook on a photographer friends page who provided a notice of his death:
Why did he have to travel as much as he did? Some folks just need the adventure and notoriety. They fear they will have a sense of tremendous loss if it goes away. Adrenaline kick while doing it.
Nothing is forever.
And I’ll add, maybe the only thing that’s forever is nothing.
