Antonym for GAS... what would it be?

the "no sense in buying cameras unless you're going to make money at it" disease. It's the generaly sentiment in my human surroundings.

Don't know what you call it, but it's best described by the look on my wife's face when she sees PayPal charges on the credit card statement. 😱

Not too many people seem to have the opposite of GAS... but if it were to infect a few folks, what would it be called?

Can't find this logical . Why should the opposite of a special sort of a severe mental disease be a kind of illness too ? These folks are neither rare nor infected, they are just "not sick " IMHO 😉

GAS would better be called LONAH = "Lights on but nobody at home" 😛

My doctor is buring the midnight oil looking for the name of it now. It dosen't seem well documented in the literature. But I haven't made a purchase off oboy or anywhere else for nearly two months [ see what your started Raid! ;-) ] I think what is giving the doctor the most problems is my difficulty in describing the symptoms. Strange sensations every time I look on oboy. I know the right thing to do, and I want to do the right thing, but somehow, I just can't. There is this strange inner voice that keeps intonning, "enough, enough, you have all you need. Start using some of it." Now why would I want to do that?

It's driving me nuts and my doctor is looking more and more haggard as well. I am at my wits end. My wife is hinting at that slightly expensive vacation we always wanted but could never afford, and some home repairs are getting done. The credit card companies are all calling offering deals if I will only come back. I just don't know what to do. I don't mind telling you that it has me a little scared.

Please somebody, HELP!!

Maybe we should have a poll to determine how many are "diseased" and how many aren't. 😉 I thought FrankS would have done it in his recent thread about having enough gear, but he had better sense than to do that!

As for me... I'm done (for the time being) with major camera purchases. I have enough equipment in each format to keep me going until "film is dead".

As far as rangefinders go, I enjoyed them because they are lightweight and easy to carry/use. My rangefinder camera "collection" includes a well-used SuperGraphic 4x5, a seldom-used Canonet QL GIII-17, and (my favorite for the last year) Kodak Retina IIIc.

The Kodak is the newest and most used at the moment. I've been making periodic small buys of accessories. There aren't many more that I really want or would use... but my camera bag has put on a bit of weight since I started buying these accessories since the lenses tend to be large and heavy. In addition to the f/2 50, I have the f/5.6 35, a f/4 35 and the f/4 80.

Ohhhhh, my aching shoulder! 🙂

For fans of Charles Dickens it's called:

"income: one pound, expenditure 19/6, result, happiness"

(GAS is when the expenditure is over £1 and result is unhappiness)

Younger readers may not recognise the currency - 19/6 is 97.5 pence, or just under £1. It works with USD and Euro as well - just put in cents instead.
