I don't know if this is possible at all, but something that is rather annoying is that one cannot see shutterspeed when the camera is in manual-mode, I really need to see that, because the difference in handholdability between 1/8 and 1/4 is significant. In very lowlight situations I have to check the top of my camera all the time. Does anyone have a clue if that would be possible with a firmwareupdate?
Had the problem yesterday. I was out at night with the M8 and used it in manual mode. How do you know what time you dialed in when you are standing in a dark corner and see nothing?
Yes, information about the time in the viewfinder would be great. No idea if this was possible with a firmware update.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned 12bit-DNG file support (or 14 bit, whatever the sensor outputs). I've been testing an M8 and the lack of "bit range" unfortunately shows its ugly face more often than I'd expect, to the point where in tricky situations my R-D1 gives better tonality (I'm seeing this in portraits). I expect this pointless limitation to be entirely based in firmware.
My 2 cents, then: allow for full range DNG output, without the 8-bit compression.
Yep.
And have the camera remember lenses which I have, so then when a frameline is selected, I just get a choice of two or three lenses that match that frameline. Just the 28 mm would be having more options.
And yes, why not add the competition lenses as well. Marketing might be scared. :bang:
But look, we are the customers.
[--] My second point is that unlike Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Sony and others, they have a relatively small number of products: M8, M8.2 and M9 -- and really just two, if you lump together the M8 and M8.2.
