Any good quotes by your fav photographer?

This is a good one.

One of these days, I'm going to publish a book of all the pictures I did not take. It is going to be a huge hit. -René Burri

Even though it's pretty well known, I've always loved this little piece of poetry:

"Nothing is ever the same as they said it was. It's what I've never seen before that I recognize." -Diane Arbus.

"I have often thought that if photography were difficult in the true sense of the term -- meaning that the creation of a simple photograph would entail as much time and effort as the production of a good watercolor or etching -- there would be a vast improvement in total output. The sheer ease with which we can produce a superficial image often leads to creative disaster."

--Ansel Adams

" Hey someone stole my camera" Robert Capa the day someone stole his camera

Philippe Halsman: "I drifted into photography as one drifts into prostitution. First, I did it to please myself; then I did it to please my friends; and, eventually, I did it for the money."

Elliott Erwitt: "Life isn't only misery and hysteria, it's everything in between."

I have a burning desire to see what things look like photographed by me.

~ Garry Winogrand

"This is not a lens. It is your beating heart. It is your soul."
one of my teachers said that to me when I borrowed a lens from him, just before handing it to me. I like the idea that the soul has as much to do with photography as the lens. That they are one and the same.

I had forgotten this one:

A picture is the expression of an impression. If the beautiful were not in us, how would we ever recognize it?

That's a nice thought, but are you sure that he wasn't warning you about the consequences if you didn't return the lens in one piece? 😱

Ansel Adams, I think...?

Roman, you are correct. Stephan, substitute "brilliant image" for "sharp photograph" and "concept" for "idea."

There is nothing worse than a brilliant image of a fuzzy concept. -Ansel Adams

Thanks 🙂 Almost had it :bang:

"I simply can no longer imagine photography without interchangeable lenses. One rigidly built-in lens of only a single fixed focal length would for me be a shackle which might very soon spoil all my enthusiasm for photography. It would be the same to me as a pianist with only one octave to a piano." Walther Benser.

NOW That should inspire some major GAS attacks!!!
