Any Minolta users out there?

I had a Minolta 16II back in the early 60's... fun little pocket camera, but dealing with the small film was a chore. Then in 1982 I bought a new CLE, which I still use. I came to like it so much I got another (used) one, as so often good things come in pairs. :)

I just picked up my first prints from my recently purchased 7s I thought the meter had had it and shot half the roll on auto and the other at sunny 16.To my amazement all my auto ones turned out quite good.So I will put the bat back in and shoot on auto in future.

I have a Hi-Matic F that needs some attention. The shutter doesn't open with working batteries (the battery check light does work). I'm using too SR44s in one slot with a spring to short out the other battery slot.

First Minolta: SRT 201
2nd Minolta: Weathermatic DL (the yellow camera)
3rd Minolta: Minolta AL (http://www.thecamerasite.net/02_Rangefinders/Pages/minoltaal.htm)

Love them all, but the AL is really good to carry for street, and does not make that loud SLR sound. The selenium exposure meter still works, too.

oops I lied!
First Minolta: SRT 201
2nd Minolta: Minolta XTsi

4th Minolta: Minolta AL (http://www.thecamerasite.net/02_Rangefinders/Pages/minoltaal.htm)

Minolta Hi-Matic E. Very sharp! A much better build quality than Olympus, Yashica and Canon.

I have SRTs, Hi-Matics, XDs, a couple Min 16s, movie cameras, and a couple 5XIs.

I shot professionally with Minoltas years ago and never had a single complaint and they never let me down.

I MAY try out a digital that uses my auto focus lenses (Sony Alpha), we'll see.......

I really miss Minolta.

Still using the srT's and XE-7 cameras. Thinking about getting another XD-11.

I was given an X300 with a 50/2 lens years ago. A bit later I inherited an XG-M, the famous 50/1.7 rokkor, a 28/2.8 Sigma and a tiny 75-150/4 zoom. Both had reliability troubles, so I bought an X700 along with a P flashlight and the wonderfoul 35-70/3.5 that Leica aledgedly sold as a "35-70 vario Elmarit", to which was added the beast like 70-210/4...

The X700 failed (i recently found that I only needed to retension the springs), so I got an XD5, later a Hi-Matic 9, was given a Hi-Matic F... The most recent buy is a wonderful SRT-101 with which I have a really good feeling.
Well, the advantage with Minolta is that, save some very particular lenses, you can get very high quality glasses for a very low price. And the build quality is often very high, except for the electronic, but it apparently needs the simple change of a capacitor, so should try sometimes. Post us some photographs!

Well since everyone else is listing SLR kit too, I have an XG-1 (original type but with the later logo), X-300 and XD-7 too. Lenses are the 50/2, 50/1.7 and two copies of the 45/2. I also have an Auto Meter III.

I won't talk about the Riva Zoom 70w I have.

I have Minolta AL-S and AL-E. These are among the most beautiful RF cameras, IMO.
And there's the Hi-matic C with retractable lens. Unique design.

BTW, I happen to have Riva 70W, too. It's actually very good for a p&s, if you don't mind considerable distortion at wide-angle end.

I just bought a nice Minolta Hi-Matic 7Sii but it looks like the aperture blades are stuck, nothing moves when I turn the lever. Can this be easily fixed?

my friend just bought one too with similar problem.
he managed to unscrew the front element retaining ring and get to the blades. he put a dab of methylated spirits on the stuck blades using a q-tip [cotton swab] and the blades started moving. once it had fully evaporated he reassembled and it was all good.
