That's pretty much what I was able to get.
No grain.

So do I assume correctly that full size of each picture there is actually a full size file? Was the sharpening in photoshop used or any other processing that would influence the result for sharpness?
Again, teh reason I am asking- I was never satisfied with Epson 4990 on MF negatives, you are seems to be OK with it.
Thanks.
No. I don't upload files that large to the LUG Gallery. The files in the LUG Yearbook album are the largest that I upload. They were specifically sized for publication in the LUG Yearbook published by Blurb.
I only use the two sharpening presets found in Lightroom: Hard Edge and Soft Edge, depending on the subject and the effect I want. Until recently I only used Screen Sharpen Low for web files. Lately, I have bumped up to Screen Sharpen Standard. It seems to be ok. I am deathly afraid of over sharpened JPEGs. I cringe whenever I see one on the web.

I hate over-sharpened images as well.
By the way, I started doing search online and stumbled onto this neat trick.
It's in Russian but pictures are self-explanatory.

Today I tried it, made first prototype (for one window only, using fridge stickers) and it does work! I can show you results - definite improvement.

BTW, Google does a fair job of translating the entire web page with the translate tool.

I'd be leery of placing too strong of a magnet on the scanner. But this should be taken to a different thread as it's getting off topic.

Guy there says that he has not noticed any adverse effect for the last year and a half he was using this contraption.
But you are right, this is off topic, although I am sure it's interesting info for some people.

Hey guys - the scanner is finally available for pre order. $2000. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/890953-REG/Plustek_783064365642_Optic_Film_120_Scanner.html

Sweet. Exactly at that $2000 mark, which, for me, is the threshold price point: I'd buy it if it's at least as good as the 9000ED. If it falls noticeably below, I won't buy it, if only on principle

The best camera is one that still works!
I contacted Pro Scan here in Oz and enquired about the Plustek 120 ... ie when might it be available and a predicted price. They advertise themselves as the official distributor for Plustek for Australia and New Zealand.
This is the reply I received today:
What a joke!

Thanks for your email.
I’m sorry we don’t have this scanner.
If you would like to speak to one of our sales specialists in regards to alternatives please let me know as I can organise for them to contact you. If so, please advise which state you are in and your telephone number.
Thank you.
Kind regards,

I bought my 8100 plustek from digitalcamerawarehouse at almost half the price of 'proscan'. I wouldn't even bother with them personally. I'm sure DCW will stock it.

Yeah Gav ... I noticed when I was in there last they had a Plustek in stock so hopefully they will be onto the 120 as soon as it's available.
I was just surprised at Pro Scan's fairly disinterested reply ... for a so called distributor!

The Plustek Facebook page has a link to downloadable images scanned from the 120 scanner. There are three B&W images - one JPG and two TIFs - with color scans to come on Friday.
