Any news on the new Plustek 120 scanner?

That flickr is the Plustek sales rep :) in case that wasn't known.

Thanks. Sorry if it had already been posted. I haven't read every page of this thread. It has taken so long that I was starting to think it was vaporware and I had all but given up. Now that it is starting to be available and the results look promising I'm getting very interested in it.

I also note that he mentions that this was scanned at 2650 dpi, which is half of the spec output dpi (5300).

Just received email from B&H that the Plustek 120 is available!

Looking forward to read the reviews before ordering myself. Might be just in time since I have 55 rolls of 120 film to scan...

I don't see it as in-stock on either B&H or Adorama, nor did I get an in-stock notification email from B&H that its stock status had changed.

I'm refreshing the pages hourly:D So glad this damn thing is finally coming out. If it compares even remotely favorably to the 9000 then it is a must buy.

Tumbling, yes, slashed, well, err, sort of ... from a RRP £2,000.00 to £1,999.00
The street price in Germany is indeed cheaper at around 1.800 € (with SF Ai Studio 8)...

Hehe... yeah, I wasn't going to pick one up until I had some more cash, but since they've knocked that 1GBP off, I might actually be able to convince the wife it's a good investment! :D

LOL, :D

Sorry, but I just don't see any of the crisp definition and detail of a CS 9000 or similar high-end scan in any of the Opticfilm 120 samples floating around on the net so far. (I've owned a Flextight 646 myself years ago in addition to my current V750, so I think I have an idea of how an unsharpened raw scan at >4000dpi should look like) Am I the only one here who sees an awkward similarity to what comes out of the V750 in terms of image detail (or lack thereof)?

I've been looking for full resolution scans. Are there any posted?

The images (lower resolution) that I've seen made me wonder if there will be a glass mount option.

Will there be an optional glass mount holder for 35mm and/or MF?

I tend to agree with you, but I'm still on the fence a little.
The larger image files that are posted are higher ISO and appear to have been somewhat sharpened with a big-ish radius.

We really won't know for sure until we actually have the same negs scanned across different scanners for a direct comparrisson.

I guess full resolution samples are just too big to share, but here are some huge scans:

What astonishes me more than the sharpness, is the color balance, although I don't know how much pp has gone into these.

I saw Mark saying on another forum that OpticFilm will be looking into the possibility of releasing glass mounts after the initial release of the scanner. I guess they are still busy with the initial release.
