Hi Guys,

I am currently in Astana and I wonder if there is any shop in the city selling rangefinder lenses-cameras. As this is a former SSCB country I suppose there might be few stores?

Cheers

Try the camera shop located at Sine Tempore, the central Shopping Mall on Kenesary street, accross the Congress Hall (Astana md 3/14)

Let us know what you think of their stock, service, pricing etc. end of Astana and Kazakhstan in general.

I live in London, and although widely travelled, I have never been in any of the ex USSR states. I was curious myself, so I looked up a website for visitors to Astana, which included shopping information.

I couldnt checked the above one but my colleague found me a antique shop with lots of FSU gear. And you cant believe what gem I found there. A jupiter-12 35mm f2.8 in excellent condition on a fed. I paid only 15buck for all!! Fed seems to work at high speeds but I need to test.

That lens works very well on all my RF cameras. Just watch out for light hitting the lens from the edges of that very curved glass. See flare on left edge of this shot.

Hi there, thanks for your suggestions. I shot a test film. I will see. What did you mean by "Just do not substitute on LTM-M adapter."?

Here is a shot from the test. The lens is good at f2.8 on my M6 with a subsitute converter (this shot is not at 2.8 but from other shots I know).

In the shot you can see the flare from the right corner mentioned above.

Good it worked with cheap adapter, I was skunked twice with 35 and 135 lens.

Can't see anything terribly wrong on the picture.
Couple of years ago I asked one photographer who used same age, black J-12 a lot. He was strongly recommending to have hood on the lens.
