I am trying to figure out how to adjust the rangefinder. As some of you might remember from a previous thread, it's canted a couple of degrees, and is causing me to take crooked photos.
well, if I am reading this section right, this operation requires loosening the adhesive on one of the mirrors with a "ketone" (solvent), adjusting, and then adding more to lock it down. No screw adjustments.

No, that'll do...dang! Thanks very much, though, I really appreciate it! I've actually been leaning toward selling my Contax stuff and getting an M2...now I'm feeling a little more that way. Of course now I have to tell the buyer about the misalignment. 😡
I'll double check the book.... there is nothing that blatantly says "adjust this to fix tilt in the viewfinder".... there is a reference, though, in the parallax correction area that says "make this adjustment to correct a faulty parallax due to a lateral (horizontal) dislocation or slant"
If you remove the top (the only trick here, besides the dials, is that the ring around the cable release port must be unscrewed to get the top off on the G1), the "adjustment" is between the ISO button and the viewfinder. Might be worthwhile to take a look.
Also, KEH has one of the better Contax repair guys in the US at their disposal. Not sure what ToCAD is doing these days.
