Sheesh... people are really sensitive around here tonight!

frank can sometimes be like that water torture thing, drip, drip, drip.
for some ( and not me, btw - i am the messenger) it becomes too much.

Sorry if this is a repeat topic.
No.

You must have met my wife. She's the living embodiment of that saying. She'll let me say *anything* I want... it's just that I pay for days if I say the wrong thing!

I know two guys that shoot Leicas. One of them really shoots the camera. It is an M6 and it looks like someone really shoots the thing- it actually has brassing, dings, dents, etc. To tell you the truth, it is downright ugly, kind of reminds me of my Nikon SLR's I shot years ago and my Bessas that I shoot now. The guy slings it around and basically treats it like what it is- a tool for taking photos. My other friend has several Leicas including an M7. They are beautiful. In fact they look as though they have never been used. He takes them out every now and then on special occasions, usually when a large crowd is around, shoots maybe a whole roll of film and then discreetly spirits them away. He even dresses to complement the cameras. It is like a fashion statement. Everything is color coordinated- it's like watching him walk down a runway. And some people wonder why others make fun of Leica shooters.

But back to the orignal thread... did these guys name their cameras?

C'mon Frank, don't leave. Really, I love your sense of humor. I especially liked your post about leaving a camera cocked. You know, leaving it cocked and unzipped. Sometimes that is exactly what this forum needs, lunacy!Frank Granovski said:Ah, thanks, Rick. But I think this will be my last post here.

I don't know if those 2 guys named their cameras, but I shudder to think what the owner of the M7 may have named his.BrianShaw said:But back to the orignal thread... did these guys name their cameras?

In a magnanimous gesture to take the heat off Frank and to divert the attention from the thin-skinned Leica users that must be doing the complaining I am going to volunteer to set myself up for ridicule by admitting to using primarily Alpa and Contaxes -- bring it on, I can take it!!!
Give me your best shots...
P. S. As a result of a recent charitable act by my father I had to also add "Leica" to my little sig line below...it didn't hurt nearly as much as I expected

Wow Honu, you have a Alpa? Now that is class! Which Alpa do you have? I love those cameras. And I appreciate you taking the heat. Down here in Texas, we call that "The Alamo Way" of doing things.Honu-Hugger said:In a magnanimous gesture to take the heat off Frank and to divert the attention from the thin-skinned Leica users that must be doing the complaining I am going to volunteer to set myself up for ridicule by admitting to using primarily Alpa and Contaxes -- bring it on, I can take it!!!Give me your best shots...

I'm new to my R3A so I haven't named it, yet. But, here's what I have names for now: Subaru Forester "Natasha", Moto Guzzi motorcycle "Sofia", guitar "Nikita", and three bicycles named "Emma Peel", Josephine", and "Sally."

I love the Emma Peel name. After all these years, Diana Rigg still makes my pants go crazy.TimBonzi said:I'm new to my R3A so I haven't named it, yet. Models II, 4, 5, 5b, 6, 6b, 7, 8b, 9d, 10d, 11el, and 11si...without taking a count about 18 or 19 total. Blame it on the sins of the father; my Dad was pretty generous about letting me use his cameras when I was young and he had a Model 5 and a 6b at the time. The 6b was the one I preferred and I became quite attached to it. He must have decided if he ever wanted to use it again he was going to have to make a plan so he gave me a 9d for my 13th birthday. Dad's gone entirely digital now so he sent his cameras out to me a couple of years ago. I cherish having the 5 he bought the year I was born and his 6b as well as my old 9d.
By the way, I love getting to Texas whenever I can. I've met some great folks down there and have had some of the best barbecue ever. There's a group of bikers that meet at the same rest stop (near Turkey) every Sunday for barbecue -- they've done this for years. I stopped to use the facilities and they motioned me over and pretty much wouldn't let me leave until I'd joined them for dinner; we still correspond and I'm planning to be back down in Turkey this April.
