Anybody name their cameras?

I've always named my cars (Zippy, Darth, Estella, and Animal), but none of my cameras have names. When I try to think up a name for the M3, I can only come up with really obvious stuff like Dieter or Udo.

The jokes are fine, but if Frank publishes derogatory cartoons about Leicas that will be the last straw. All over the world there'll be groups of 15-20 middle-aged protesters throwing used film canisters at the Vancouver Tourism offices, and boycotting Kokanee beer. :D

Honu, you have a serious Alpa fetish! I had no idea. They really are wonderful cameras and I always wanted to own one. Years ago a friend of mine had one and I shot if for a day and fell in love with it. Texans are a weird bunch. A friend of mine from out of state once told me that Texans either love you to death or want to kill you. I like to think that it is not that bad but he may be on to something. Seriously, we may be the most stereotyped people in the country. But that is okay, I don't think we would have it any other way.

Actually, I am a little disappointed. Those are the 35mm Alpas. I thought you might have the new medium-format Alpa.

Sorry, didn't mean to sterotype. Actually, bikers everywhere tend to be a friendly bunch. It's just that during that trip through Texas I stopped at a Harley shop (with a little trepidation since I ride a BMW) and a group there insisted that I ride out with them on a dinner ride and join them. Then the next day after I left Turkey I met the other group at the rest area...in all it left me with a pretty nice impression of the folks in Texas. Of course, one bar fight could change all that :D.

Now, that is humor. You are a card, Finder. Keep em coming. I'm sure Honu can hang with this. :) :)

No, I did not mean that you sterotyped us at all. I enjoyed reading about you stopping at the place and having a good time with the bikers. That is the Texas I know. I love hearing stories from people from other states about Texas because most of the time they are very nice stories indeed.

Does "You #$%$ing piece of $%&*!!!" count? I've often applied that name to cameras on an ad-hoc basis when the film wouldn't take up or rewind, shutter would jam, etc...
yeah what he said..... :D

Just a word of advice about bar fighting in Texas. Never ever bring your knife to a gun fight.

I have to confess, I do have one camera that I've given a name to. My Fujica G690 MF RF. I call it "Big Fuji." It is like six pounds of steel and glass around my neck. Pretty boring, I know.

Best Regards,

Bill Mattocks
6 pounds?! Yikes!

I was using my Nikon D70s today and it named itself: Grendel, because it's a monster, but it can't help being what it is and it's kind of loveable anyway.

With the arrival of a Koni-Omega Rapid, I'm going to have to find a name.
The seller called it "Koni Queen of the Sea." But, he fancies himself a pirate.
Even so, "Koni" may be do-able.
Could be "Speedy," or "Brick." How about "Mjööllnir?" Since it's roughly the size and weight of Thor's hammer.

I'm thinkin'......
