Leica LTM Anybody recognize this hood?

Hmmmmm well, camera appears to be a Leica IIIb 1938ish with a Summar
and as Bill said I think a Kodak series 6 hood from that period....

I don`t think Ernst Leitz NYC made a chrome hood looking like this, I`ve seen a square "barndoor" folding Summitar hood that was pre-war ELNYC in satin chrome
(but it`s really rare)

That hood almost looks like a Korean War era Nippon Kogaku type hood, that`s funny :D

I think this one was late 1944 in the ETO. I think I may actually have one of these, come to think of it. What would be the right size adapter for a Summar?

My first guess is a Kodak also. Hmmm, would the Summar require a 36mm push on adaptor?

Nobody recognized it because color was omitted in the picture, but it's the little red riding hood :p

I have a very similiar hood which could be the same. All it states is "Japan". It is supposedly a generic hood from the late 50's.

Steve,

Note: the OP posted that the photo was taken in 1944........

It looks like a Nikkor hood, but in 1944 we were`nt shooting with anything made in Japan, we were still at war with them

I say it`s a Kodak hood era 1939

I'm having trouble finding an adapter that's exactly 36mm. Could the 1 13/32 inch - 35.5mm adapter be made to work, or would I be better off going larger?

Remember that the Kodak adapters can be made larger or smaller by bending all of the tabs in or out. That said, coming up with one that's a good match for the knurled 36mm Leica lens fronts (like the Elmars) is hard. I use a Canon screw-clamp one instead.

Part of my problem is that I'm using it for reenacting (hence my interest in the picture in the first place), and a Japanese hood wouldn't really make sense in that context.

I use a 1- 7/16" (36.5mm) Kodak series VI adapter for my lens hood on my Summar lens.
this size works fine on this lens .
