Wondering if those with M9 and Canon 35/2 are enjoying this combo. Would appreciate to see some examples (flickr didn't have many returns from this specific search) along with some feedback on using the lens on an M9 (pros cons vs other compact 35/2 lenses regarding dynamic range mostly: any significant difference?).

I currently have an R-D1 and have read that the 35/2 helps improving dynamic range due to its low contrast, saw many shots on flickr with it and loved the looks of photos taken with it, tried one at a shop once and absolutely loved the ergonomics. Now I've bought one and as I intend on buying an M9 somewhere in the future I'd like to have a heads up.

Thanks!

What I've understood from the DR aspect (read a test a year ago, perhaps on Luminous Landscape) is that a low contrast lens will give perhaps the appearance of more shadow detail, but not actually give any real advantage in DR. Not like a full stop or anything. It may help in making images less harsh though, but lenses do not affect dynamic range in any useful way.

Yep, I had this exact test in mind, and I'm asking because from what i've tested with a Canon 50/1.8 (low contrast) and a Nokton 50/1.5 (high contrast) I feel I get much more detail in shadows with the Canon, whereas with the Nokton I sometimes have to bring up the backlight lever to get more detail. I also feel the Canon clips highlights a bit less than the Nokton... it might not actually improve dynamic range (I'm a noob in technical aspects), but it gives me that impression.

Opa Marcelo!!! thinking about the M9? who doesn't?

developing color negs is more and more becoming a hassle in Sao Paulo... very few trusty labs that won't scratch rolls or leave them dirty and this morning one I got to know that the one I take my negs to be developed and scanned is now only doing one batch a day due to low demand 🙁

it's not the end of the (film) world (to me), but it certainly is a bad sign, 2 years ago it was so much easier to shoot film!

Já montei a listinha do que vender pra levantar a grana da M9, a parte mais dificil acho que vai ser conseguir ser mais desencanado ainda do que ja sou e sair com ela pelo centro de SP à noite 🙂
