Yes I did!!!!!! I havn't used it yet, but I'll be out and about later in the day. Does anyone know whether there is any disadvantage to leaving the IR filters on the lenses?

No! but Santa brought me a PS2. Knowing how I feel about all the complicated buttons on digital cameras he'd break me in on a PS2. Maybe next year I'll be ready for an M9.

An M9 is ideal in that way - you really don´t have to touch any of the buttons!
Just use it as it is - and then at some later point venture into the meny to change iso... Should be all that is needed!

Not 'for Christmas': I've had it about 10 days.
It's stunning. The M8 was good. The M8.2 was better. The M9: well, it's like a real (film) Leica. In other words: the best.
Cheers,
R.

That's quite a statement Roger. Are you by any chance planning on writing an article for your site about it? Or is that a silly question? I think many people here would really like to hear your opinion on this camera and if it's worth the price.

Dear Not-Ron,
Yes, it's a silly question, and yes, there will be a review on the site. I just want to shoot a LOT more pictures first. I've aready written most of the review but I want to see if my opinion changes in real use -- I've been caught out before.
The price is terrifying but it's the first digcam I've used that gives me quality that reminds me of film. Which is interesting because I have been told by quite a lot of people who should know (film, camera and lens manufacturers, and imaging software engineers) that you need at least 18 megapixels to equal film quality.
Of course there are other 18+ megapixel cameras, but I happen to prefer Leicas to SLRs.
Cheers,
R.

Room on the couch for you here in Vallarta, and can guarantee some good subjects, could probably get Jorge to provide the ride. ;-)
Shot from the balcony, by the couches. ;-)
Sailfish was with a DSLR, but I did not look through the VF, it was not my camera, so it morally counts as a RF shot.
Regards, John

I think the IR filters will cause a color cast. Leica says not to leave them on, anyway.
