Anyone out there in Nikon or Pentax land with this lens (the new CV 40/2)? I'm looking for fun stuff to put on my K10D and this looks interesting. Head bartender has it for sale on his site, Cameraquest, but I've yet to see any discussion of it or sample images. Lets have some of both if you know of this lens ... opinions welcome.

I wish I did not pick up the 50/1.8 Nikkor about four months ago when I started thinking DSLR. I was lusting after the 58/1.4. I have been very impressed with every CV lens I have (15 LTM, 25 LTM, 25 SC, 35 SC, 35/1.7 LTM, 40/1.4 M, 75 LTM) and would not think twice about getting one if I "needed" it. The CV RF line is very resistant to flare and sharp. The only think I do not like about the 58 is that it does not take 52mm filters (old Nikkor Prime Lens Standard). I have lots of them and they can be fun from time to time (like the ND-400).
The build of the newer CV lenses is much improved. To me, the 40/1.4 feels as good as the Leica 'Cron 35/2 version IV. You mileage may vary.
I have not yet gotten the D300 I am lusting after so I am not sure the 50/1.8 is what I really like. Problem is I grew up on a Nikkor 85/1.8 so the 58 multiplies out to a better match (read exact) for that. Plus it has the fancy electronics in her so I can do some funky flash stuff (I love flash).
Sorry no hands on with either, but perhaps some helpful background in any event.
I think they are a heck of a bargain. I was expecting a higher price. I hope Pres K comes out with some wider stuff too.

I have one in Nikon mount. Have only had it a short time of course and I haven't had much chance to use it yet. I posted some images using it on my D100 (digital DX format) in this thread:

So far I don't have any images from it on a film body.

I am waiting on the PKA 58. Is the SLII 40 different optically than the SL one?

My understanding is that the SLII is optically identical to the earlier SL version.

Any pictures out there with the earlier one? I'm cautiously optimistic about how I might enjoy this lens. In fact, I'd of bought it already but the one CV lens I don't care for too much, judging from pictures, is the CV 40/1.4 Nokton (M mount). I know the lens we are talking about here is a different lens, but it still makes me want to read a little discussion, like ours, and see a few images made with the lens. Thanks for all the input!
