Thanks to this forum, I've snagged myself an R-D1 from ffordes - emailed them over the weeked soon as somebody mentioned they had one for sale, called them first thing this morning, and they tell me it's in the post already.

The camera's complete with box, battery and charger, but no software CDs. Now, I'm guessing I can download the new firmware from the Epson site, but I'm assuming I will still need Epson Adobe Raw and the other software?

is there any kind soul out there who might be able to burn a copy of the software onto CD or DVD (I run Mac OSX and I'm in the UK)? If you're a rock music fan I'm sure I can reciprocate with a good book or maybe a CD.

Thankee thankee. I'm sincerely hoping that the forum that has encouraged this addiction might help with this new fix... any and all postings and PMs will be much appreciated...

Thanks for the link Phil, that's fantastic, just downloaded PhotoRaw and it seems to open up perfectly.

Ffordes even threw in a card reader because the software was missing, and the fact it was incomplete seems to have contributed to a pretty reasonable price. I'm not sure if they noticed how surprised I was, when I told them "really? You have a six month guarantee? SO you'll fix ANY problem." But they seem great, touch wood...

Here's a link to the pdf instruction manual and Epson's document on how to clean the sensor. The manual is for the R-D1s which it's well worth upgrading the R-D1 firmware to. The link to the firmware upgrade is here. The new firmware will enable you amongst other things to map out bad pixels.

It's a super little camera, I take mine almost everywhere in preference to an SLR.

Bob.
