Anyone here also interested in binoculars?

I have a Leica Ultravid 10x42 for birding. An Old Leitz 10x40 for fun. A Leica 10x22 for on the go. A Leica 6x24 for the opera.
Then an older Zeiss 10x25 for at work, A zeiss Dialyt 8x30 I got from dad in law, a new Zeiss 10x25 which was discounted and an older Zeiss 8x20.
And a Foton 7x35 for when I'm sailing.

I have a gaggle of binoculars, including Nikon , Zeiss, Swift Audobon. No Leica except in rangefinder....a dud. The nicest 8x32 is a Nikon 8x32SD.CF. Not a roof prism but relatively small, fantastic colors, excellent FOV, 3D pop. Light and easy to carry and hold. Zeiss 10x42 very nice. When I go out and no specific use in mnd...it's the Nikon. Not certain they are made any more. since I haven't used swarski or leica....no comparison. If you have no preference consider Vortex models. Unmatched warranty ....replacement for any contingent problem.

Best bang for the buck are Baigish binoculars. Nikon ones have great optics but don‘t have a premium feeling to them because of the plastics they use.

i've always wanted a pair of stabilized glass.....eyes old etc.Nikon rebranded (for a while) the Fuji's. the fuji's are nice and the current Canon stabilized binos are very good. Just kind of funky.

these binos were discontinued.. fantastic porros but not environment proof. My personal favorite even though I have zeiss.

Have had a pair of Leica 7x42 BN's for years. B&H photo in NYC had them on sale so I snapped them up. Never regretted it.

When younger and living in England my friends father showed me a pair of German tank commanders binoculars, he tagged them after a battle somewhere in Europe. They were absolutely massive, internally there were scales and I seem to remember exterior dials that altered them, must have been a rangefinder system.
Anyhow they looked like two Hasselblad 350mm lenses side by side and painted green, massive things.

I have the 8.5 x 42 Swarovski binoculars, just beautiful. I also have the Vortex Viper 8x42 that I bought expressly for use on wildlife safaris, also very good, but at about 1/4 of the price of the Swarovski, less painful should I drop them, get banged around in transit or get stolen. The Swarovski offer a bit more resolution, but the big difference in the two is that the Vortex can exhibit strong green and purple color fringing in strongly backlit situations, while the Swarovski does not.
