Anyone here like FP4+ in Rodinal?

I like the combo, I tend to use 1/50 dilution, sometimes also for HP5 (400-800ASA) 1/100 dilution and stand development:

Ilford FP-4 Plus in Rodinal 1+50, shot in a Hasselblad. This is my standard film/dev combo now. I used to use Tmax 100 in Rodinal, but I now prefer FP-4+ in Rodinal. I use Tri-X in D76 when I need a 400 speed film, and Tmax 3200 or Delta 3200 in Tmax Developer for high speed.

Interesting to hear and see FP4 in Rodinal. I never tried Rodinal, although I often thought about doing so. I have used FP4 and liked it very much. I hadn't used it for a long time but finally got some in 120 for my folders or Super Press. There is a Folk Festival the end of June in Washington I would like to use it with. From the looks of some of the photos above, I guess I better get some Rodinal at last.
 
Marsopa, I actually very much like your TMAX100 shots. What did you develop them in?

Chris, all three show lovely bite in the tonality. I love the middle shot especially.

Thanks, I waited 3 weeks to get that shot because we kept having bright sunny days, and the back of that building faces north (causing severe backlighting on sunny days no matter what time of day you go there). Kept hoping that little flag would still be there when the light was right. Finally got an overcast day and the flag was still there!
 
Thanks for sharing these, very useful information. Chris, # 3 (with the little flag) has a very good tonality (judging from my small monitor only), did you print it ?

Not yet, no money for paper and ink 🙁 This has been a hard year for me. I will eventually print it. My prints match my screen pretty close. I use an Epson 2200 with Imageprint driver software. Incredible for black & White
 
FrankS.... Rodinal 1:100 , for 1 hour. Standard agitation for 10 secs each minute for the first 3 - 5 minutes. At the 30 minute mark one 10 second agitation, let stand for 30 minutes then drain and do the regular rise - fix - rinse.

FP4 and Rodinal will give images with lots of character (read grainy but with a classic look )
1+50 or 1+100 work best in obtaining a very long tonal range, that and decreased agitation (1 p[er minute or 1 every other minute)

I found that vitamin C can tame the grain in FP4 and give very pleasant images, at a rate of 4 g/l (1 teaspoon in 500 ml).
 
My local minilab develops my all my B&W film using Rodinal but 25 because of time/cost he tells me. 50 is better but no economical for him. I have samples on my Flickr using TMAX400, FP4+, Delta100.

I have to say I don't get that smooth low contrast I see in a lot of people's photos - but they seem to be using Tri-X. I will have to try next. Of the films I've listed above, they all seem to be quiet contrasty with less tonal gradients that I have seen in other people's pictures. Is it the film or the way my local lab develops it?

Here's a sample using FP4+ and Rodinal @ 25.
