Hello all,
Has anyone here from Canada ordered from KEH? KEH only uses UPS, and I've heard lots of horror stories of unexpected brokerage fees. KEH will ship with "Worldwide Express" which UPS says has no extra fees:
http://www.ups.com/content/ca/en/shipping/cost/zones/customs_clearance.html

However, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if there was some hidden charge there.

So, iwhen you did order to Canada, what was the shipping cost? (say, for a single lens.)

Any NEW camera equipment coming from the U.S. is subject to brokerage fees and full taxes ater clearing customs.
If it's a new item, why not keep it in Canada and order from Vistek, The Camera Store or Leo's?

Hi,

I buy from KEH quite often. I'm in Ottawa, Canada. They ship Fedex Intl Express, no brokerage fees on that method. Only the standard 14% tax (GST+PST), although for some reason sometimes they miss one of the taxes (like GST). Should note: they charge sales tax on items whether new or used - I've only bought used.

No duty on photographic gear.

Bessa R2 on the way as we speak! ($35USD shipping)

Cheers,
Tim

I have bought 1 lens and 2 bodies from KEH. You have to buck up and pay the Queen's Revenue....just add about 10% to your purchase. I know it is a bit more, but that is a quick ballpark figure to think about.

I highly recommend dealing with KEH, cameraquest or popflash for your gear. I strongly recommend staying away from the big auction site for RFF gear unless you know the seller from around here or on photo.net.

All the best with your purchase!

I purchased a 2x TC for my Hasselblad there last month. IF the item is not too expensive, they will ship it USPS ground, but you have to ask them. My TC was $44 so they had no problem sending it that method (~$8 IIRC). I've read on other forums that items priced around the ~$100-150 range can be shipped that method too. I asked KEH what their criteria for deciding if it was okay to ship USPS was and they said they base it on a case by case scenario, so if the price of your order isn't too excessive (ie: too expensive to replace in case it gets damaged or lost) ask them about USPS ground.

If shipping UPS, any of the methods that ship via air include brokerage. It's ground shipping via UPS that's brutal. I guess that's what they mean by highway robbery.

Thanks for the advice...With the dollar doing so well against the USD, I've been thinking that now's the time to buy from KEH.
