funny - the wife and i have been saying how cool a (properly designed/built) shipping-container house would be. current agreement is i'd get a 20' container as a darkroom.

I know a photographer here who's done just that. Put a 'tropical" roof on top to keep the sun off, airconditioned it for temperature control and filtering, plumbed it and in the end just put a couple of offset full height, half width black-painted baffles in the entrance and claims he doesn't even need a door now to keep the light out!
