I was curious if anyone knew someone who could modify the Ultron 35mm 1.7 to .7m focus. I remember there being a modification page in the past regarding it, but I am horrible with tools. Is there any technician willing to do such a modification and what kind of price range am I looking at?
Thanks
Thanks

have you asked stephen if his tech team can do it?

No, but good suggestion. I will ask and see what he says.

RFF Member Krosya has done it. Don't know if he wants to do them for others, but you could ask him.

While it is tempting to make such a modification remember there is a reason that the manufacturer did not make the lens to focus to 0.7m.
If image quality is secondary then it could work. CV did not design the lens to do so for a reason and i can only imagine it is IQ that sets the limit.

Or the cost and size of the longer-throw mount, or the expense and difficulty of coupling as you focus closer??While it is tempting to make such a modification remember there is a reason that the manufacturer did not make the lens to focus to 0.7m.

Emailed Stephen and they do not make those modifications.

I am guessing the reason for the 0.9m min focus limit of Color Skopar v1, 50/1.5 v1, and 35/1.7 Ultron is not due to optical limitations, but due to the 0.9m min focus limit of the first camera they were made for, the Bessa R.
That being said, I would not modify my 35 Ultron (if I still had it), because I feel it would trade off mechanical stability of an already fragile lens.
For the OP, I suggest to contact DAG.

Also entirely feasible. The more I think about it, the more I doubt that it was optical limitations.

Should be fairly easy to test IQ at 0.7m if th lens is mounted on a thread mount camera.
Measure the travel from 1m to 1.3m add a pinch and have a machine shop make a spacer or shim and put that between the lens and the camera. There is thread enough on the lens that this can be done safely.
Could perhaps be done without the spacer but i think there would be a risk for light leaks around the thread.

Thanks for the suggestion I will get in contact with DAG soon.
