Anyone notice that Flickr is working poorly?

Down for maintenance ... yes I saw that just now! :p

Yes the Flickr car is up on wooden blocks. The carburetter is off, the head is being stripped and the pistons will be replaced.

If it takes as long as when I last tried my hand at car repair it will be back up in ohhhhhh, I don't know, about three and half years.

Their last Information Update was at 16:04 PST (that's 4:04pm for you civilians) stating that internal testing was complete, and that they were rolling out service to members a little at a time, and watching for hiccups.

Doesn't sound like they have a lot of faith in the IT department.

They replaced it with a very low-rent graphic. This is probably not a good sign.
They advised some extended downtime a week or more ago. The "low rent graphic" is a print friendly page members can print out for a photo competition of images including the page, prize for which is a few free memberships a day I believe. The site has had its issues in recent times but the "panda" graphic in itself says nothing about the site integrity or lack thereof.

Maybe they used these guys

And,.........did they try turning it off and on again?

Haven't tried the Uploader yet, but everything else is working with more speed now. I'll try to post something in the morning.

They switched from Yahoo servers to Amazon Web Services infrastructure.

I think that their migration IT team did a splendid job. Except for the downtime the end user would never notice that anything changed (they had to move a LOT of data). User experience is pretty much the same as before.

Shi**y! With pandas everywhere...

A few hours ago the uploader was broken, and now when I try to log in I get:
502 Bad Gateway

- which is at least different from Bad Panda :D

I get this message, not very encouraging: "We just finished re-engineering Flickr’s underlying infrastructure. You may come across a few parts of the site that aren’t working perfectly."

Erik.

At the moment it's bringing up a blank page and telling me I don't follow anyone! :bang: :p

I suppose they are doing the conversion regionally. In Vietnam, Flickr came back online some 5 hours ago. The only two items not working -with an explanation from Flickr, are 'stats' and 'camera roll'.
